After early strong moves across the petroleum complex and a cooling off around midday, petroleum futures still ended up with gains across the board. The better gains were in September RBOB as Hurricane Laura picks up strength and has already caused more than a half-dozen precautionary closures. September RBOB at one point was up well over a nickel, but the contract did end up pulling back as the day went on and settled up +0.0288cpg. This morning October WTI traded up and settled with a gain of +0.73cents. ULSD gains surrounded a penny with the front end of the curve seeing the better of the gains. September ULSD settled up +0.0125cpg.
