Meet Our Interns

This year River Country Cooperative has recruited six interns to share our experiences and give opportunities to gain knowledge in hands-on, real life situations. Here is a little about each of our interns:

Peter Haggerty grew up in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. He attends the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities where he is majoring in Agricultural Communications and Marketing and minoring in Applied Economics, Agronomy, and Agricultural Business management. Peter grew up working on his family’s farm, growing a wide variety of crops, raising steers and pigs, and participating in 4-H showing steers and swine. In his free time he enjoys playing baseball, fishing, kayaking, and skiing. This summer he hopes to gain knowledge and experience in the agronomy field and is interested in learning about crop development and the different nutrients needs that they require. Peter will be at our Hastings location.

Danielle Ellis grew up on a dairy farm near Arcadia, Wisconsin. She attends the University of Wisconsin- River Falls. Danielle is graduating this December with a major in Agriculture Marketing Communications and a double minor in Agricultural Business and Animal Science. Her agriculture back ground includes working on her family’s robotic dairy farm, being a past Buffalo County Dairy Princess, and participating and showing in 4-H and FFA. In her free time Danielle enjoys playing soccer, running, wakeboarding, skiing and snowboarding. This summer she hopes to learn more about agronomy and the marketing background of the company. Danielle will be at our Hastings location.

Zach Warweg is from New Market, Minnesota. He is a senior this year at North Dakota State University studying Crop and Weed Science with an objective in Agronomy. Zach’s agricultural background roots from helping his buddies out on their family farms. Zach enjoys shooting trap in his free time and has been an All-American five times for the sport. This summer he is interested in learning what a sales agronomist all entails. Zach will be interning at our Montgomery location.

Cassie Dietz is from Montgomery, Minnesota. She will be a junior next fall at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls studying Agricultural Business. Cassie agriculture back ground consists of helping on her family’s hobby farm which includes 350 corn, soybean, and hay acres as well as livestock such as cows, chickens, and pigs. In her free time, Cassie likes to go four wheeling, create and paint signs, and baking. This summer she is excited to learn about sales, and marketing techniques River Country Co-op uses. Cassie will be at our Montgomery location.

Brad Dusek is from Eagan, Minnesota. He will be a junior at the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities studying Agriculture and Food Business Management. Brad’s agricultural background stems from his dad’s employment at CHS as well as a family farm in northeastern North Dakota. On the side, Zack enjoys playing guitar and drums as well as outdoor sports like fishing, wakeboarding, and snowmobiling. During his internship with RCC, Zach would like to dive into precision agriculture and is very interested in using our drone. He will be at our Randolph location.

Nicole Laue is from the small town of Dennison, Minnesota. She finished her first year at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln studying agronomy. Nicole was helped out at neighboring farms bailing hay, field work, chores, and other odd and end jobs. Nicole was also very active in 4-H and FFA showing livestock. In Nicole’s free time, she likes to help out on the farms, or go for long drives admiring the country side. During the duration of the summer, she would like to get a better handle on weed identification. Nicole will be at our Randolph location.
